2-1/4 oz packets rapid rise yeast
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/3 cup milk
5 tablespoons butter (melted)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg (room temperature)
2 tablespoons honey
Place the yeast packets,1 teaspoon of sugar, and the warm milk (not hot) in a bowl and stir. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, until it foams and bubbles up.
In a large bowl, combine together the flour, salt, 1/4 cup of sugar, then the egg and vanilla extract.
Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture in the bowl, along with 5 tablespoons of melted butter.
Blend the ingredients together. Then add in the honey. If you have a stand mixture you can blend with the dough hook until it’s all mix in together. If not you can you use a large spoon and incorporate and mix by hand until it’s all incorporated.
Placed the dough into a buttered bowl, and covered it with a damp cloth for an hour in a warm spot. That will allow it to rise faster. It should double after an hour.
Grease the bottom and sides of a round baking pan. Punch down the dough to release the air bubbles and shape into balls to make 12 large rolls.(Try to make each roll even, so they bake evenly). Place close together in the pan. Brush the top with melted butter.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place again for an hour until it doubles.
Heat oven to 360°F degrees and bake for about 20 minutes. Once its done you can mix 2 tablespoons of melted butter and a teaspoon of honey and brush the top of the rolls. Enjoy.
