Donuts with Sweet Toppings

There has been a major sugar rush in my house! I must say that making donuts is pretty fun. There is nothing like the taste of a hot donut fresh out the fryer. I decided to add different flavors and toppings for my donuts. My favorite is the “maple bacon”. I love anything bacon. Then the almonds, coconut, chocolate. and so on.Ok they are all just so yummylicious!!

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (buttermilk, or honey butter flavor)
Oil for frying
Open can of biscuit dough and separate individual biscuits on baking sheet
Cut out the middles with round cookie cutter or any round shaped object you have in your kitchen
Heat about 1-2 inches of oil in a deep sauce pan until it reaches 325 degrees F. Place biscuit dough into oil and fry on each side about a minute, until golden brown. I used the punched out centers to make donut holes. Place on a paper towel to drain

Vanilla Glaze
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon butter
Melt the butter and add to rest of ingredients. Mix until creamy

Maple Glaze
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
pinch of salt
about 1/4 cup maple syrup, enough to make a spreadable frosting
Mix all together until creamy

chopped cooked bacon
sweetened coconut flakes
Almonds or any nuts to your liking
